Museum Re-opens for the holiday Season
Following many months of hard work by volunteers the museum re-opened to public visitors on Saturday the 1st of April and will now be open on Saturday, Sunday, Mondays and Tuesday from 10am – 3pm until the end of October.
We do not charge a set admission fee but donations by cash or card are extremely welcome to help support our running costs. All our staff are volunteers.
Visit by the High Sheriff
To help celebrate our opening weekend we were delighted to be able to give a guided tour to the Isle of Wight High Sheriff Kay Marriott.
Kay was extremely impressed with all that the Wight Aviation Museum has achieved in just a few short years of operation and thanked volunteers for their hard and dedication in creating the museum and celebrating the islands extra-ordinary history in aviation which spans from building the earliest of aircraft in the 1910’s, through to giant Sea Planes, Fighter Jet Aircraft and space rockets.
Kay also learned about extraordinary Island people such as the late Mary Ellis ATA who flew multiple fighter aircraft from the factories to the RAF airfields during WW2.
Kay was also impressed with our latest exhibit, an original Skeeter Helicopter that has been kindly donated to the museum.
More information on the Skeeter can be found via the link below:

As well as learning about the long and varied history of aviation on the Isle of Wight kay also got a chance to take controls of our Bull Dog aircraft using the very latest in VR technology.
Award winning museum
We are also pleased to announce that the Wight Aviation Museum has won the Bronze award for it’s work with volunteers and the community and the team would like to thank Vectis Radio for this award.
