Pauline was given Spartan G-AAGO for her 21st birthday by her father.
Pauline and Dorothy started a company “Air Trips”. Their two-seater was traded for the more versatile 3 seater “Helen of Troy” (G-ABKK).
They campaigned with “Helen of Troy” until it was hit by another aircraft at British Empire Air Displays tour. Pauline was badly injured. She recovered to continue flying. Helen of Troy was replaced by another three-seater (G-ACEF).
Pauline used her political connections to get women into flying aircraft to help the war effort. She established the women’s branch of the Air Transport Auxiliary (ATA).
